This morning I took the boys to the summer reading kickoff celebration at the park to mark the beginning of the summer reading season. I wish I would’ve taken my camera because there was so much great stuff going on. In addition to the boys meeting friends and playing on the playground, they did some fun worm art, made a great plant to put into the ground to attract butterflies, and got silly polaroids taken of themselves in one of those cardboard photo thingys. They also picked up their summer reading charts, lists, and info so that we can keep track of their books and then redeem the list for a prize at the end of summer.

Afterwards, I ran to Home Depot for an errand then took the kids to lunch. We got home and it was still pretty steamy outside so I suggested we give our new wacky sprinkler head a try. Nathan wasted no time getting wet in the sprinkler and trying to spray Will with it. He even ended up spraying me at one point (which I was not all that thrilled about). I am looking forward to many more summer days outside with water play!
