Well, it’s still not hot enough here for swimming, at least by my standards, but today shaped up to be pretty summer-like and fun. Nathan started his Spanish camp today and seemed to have a great time.

As his maestra was evaluating his current level, I overheard him count from One to Fifteen in Spanish for her. She was truly amazed. He of course knows all of his basic colors, numbers and even his favorite foods like huevos y queso which is what he often asks for and the infamous leche. I think he’ll have a really great time this month with Spanish. What’s great is that they are only spoken to in Spanish at the center so it can be frustrating at times for him I think, but he’ll eventually catch on.

We came home afterwards, despite my urge to pay a visit to my favorite hangout, Chick-fil-a. We watered the flowers and bushes out front and then after a quick lunch, we played some. I asked Nathan if he felt like going to do something (you know me, I am NOT a homebody). He of course replied with a resounding, “YES!” So we opted for a trip to the park. We pulled into the farm parking lot at Deanna Rose intending to park and just walk over to the playsape area but then I asked Nathan if he wanted to go inside the farm instead. He said that he did and with that, I pulled out the stroller and we headed on in. We were just there on Saturday for a party, but I thought it would be fun just to walk around and play on the playscapes inside the farm doors.

Will’s belly was full and he was pretty tired out so it actually worked out great. He loved being strolled around while Nathan ran till his little heart’s content all over the playground. I sat and just enjoyed the breeze and resting. Then Will wanted a piece of the action so I let him loose on the playground.

Being the spontaneous mom that I am, I had totally forgotten to pack juice or water for the park and by this time Nathan was thirsty (and quite sweaty). He had made quite a few friends at the park and they were running around playing some game. So, after he says to me “Wow! I am getting really thirsty, mom.” I knew it was time for a break. We headed over to the dairy barn area which I knew would be cooler inside and also remembered they had concessions. We splurged on a rainbow popsicle to cool us down. Then it was back to the car to head home for naptime.

As I went to lay Nathan down in his bed for nap he asked me if it was going to be dinner time when he woke up. I told him that it probably would be especially if he was hungry. He rolled over and said, “I think I want Chick-fil-a.”

I smiled inside.
