In true entrepreneurial spirit (mostly inherited from his Dad), Nathan opened up “Nathan’s Cafe” this evening serving a delish array of play-doh delicacies. He served me a green oatmeal raisin cookie for my after-meal treat.

Upon asking him what kind of establishment “Nathan’s Cafe” was, he had informed me that there was no food served; only brownies, whipped cream, cookies, cakes, and muffins. I then clairified that it was indeed a bakery type of place. He concurred but then later changed his mind and told me that he did actually serve food and that he has his friends all cooking the food in the kitchen for he and his customers.

I asked him if it had a dining room or a drive thru or both. At first he told me it was strictly drive thru. I then clarified by asking “so you don’t actually have any tables for people to sit at and eat from inside?” He replied by explaining,

“No, we had to throw all our tables away because they were too old and had too much sugar on top of them.”

But then later he decided that they indeed DID have a dining area so you could come in and eat or just go through the drive thru. Either way though, the story about the tables being old and gone (and sugary) stayed the same.

Nathan’s Cafe is a little too pricey for my blood. My yummy oatmeal raisin cookie set me back two bucks. But the service was excellent. After I finished the cookie, Nathan (who made clear that he was the restaurant manager – NOT the owner) came over to ask me if I wanted a muffin or anything else, so I thought that was nice. I of course told him I was really full and that I’d have to pass. He then asked,

“Why? So you don’t get a tummy ache?”

Incidentally, if you find yourself with a sweet tooth, I highly recommend at least checking this place out.
