Project: Valentines

Yesterday after coming home from church, the boys and I began a two part project for Nathan’s school Valentines. They’re really cool!

First we peeled several old crayons (see, Mom, RoseArts are good for something!):

Then we broke the crayons into small pieces and placed them in a heart-shaped silicone muffin pan:

Then, patiently watched and waited as they melted down:

And, VOILA!

They’re basically crayon hearts that Nathan will mount onto paper with a special message for each of his friends at school. Each one is so unique and special, just like his classmates. He’ll be taking the crayon hearts to the Valentine’s party on Monday along with take home treats for everyone!

We all really had so much fun making this craft. The hardest part was peeling each and every crayon. Today the tips of my fingernails are really sore but it was worth it.
