I’m still filtering through laundry from our trip and feel like I haven’t done much today except try to be a good mother. But then again, I guess that’s what really counts, huh?
After feeling bad that I took Will on a library trip yesterday while Nathan was in preschool, I decided to offer to take the trip with Nathan as well today. He accepted the offer. So, we had breakfast, got dressed and headed up to the library again today. It was so quiet and not very busy when we went so I’ve now made Wednesday late morning/early afternoons our weekly library time. Nathan picked out some Curious George book that he said were “for Daddy”. I can only assume they’re for he and daddy’s reading time. He also picked the Pete’s A Pizza book which he was so thrilled to find since we have the DVD from Grammy! Then he just had to have the I Spy School Days book with all of its cool photos. We are all into the I Spy series in this house. And we picked up a book about D.W. (Arthur’s sister – from the Arthur series) getting a library card. Ironic that he found that book actually since N8’s buddy, Alexander, is really into the Arthur series. The two must have started their own book club or something.
After making sure to get his stamp from the Librarian, we headed back home on this gorgeous day. Will fell asleep on the way home so I put him down for a nap and then proceeded to make lunch for N8 and I. We enjoyed lunch and each other’s company together on his little table and chairs in the kitchen.
Then it was off to cut paper. Nathan is obsessed with cutting paper. I’ve nicknamed him my little Edward Scissorhands. He informed me that the cutouts of paper were for “persons” and that he needed to place them under our Christmas tree. I am assuming he is giving them as gifts.
Then we sat down with our pile of library books and dug in. I Spy was first. We are still trying to look for that dang mouse on the second page. Honestly, I gave up and told N8 that maybe his dad could help us when he returns from work tonight. I am sure David will find it in like three seconds. I could swear we’ve looked all over the page though. Then it was onto some other books and then Will woke up from his nap. We played race cars a bit then “hold tight” where I give N8 a piggy-back ride around the living room and plop him on the couch after counting 1-2-3. He tried to negotiate doing it four times but I stopped after only two. Slick kid.
Finally, he’s down for a nap before I have to wake him at 4:00 pm to go to Catechesis. I need to feed Will and start on some sort of housecleaning today before sundown. I do have one thing on my side – the kitchen is clean and the sink is free of dirties. The dishwasher is loaded with a few dishes from breakfast and lunch and is at least ready to be started whenever I fill it up.
A clean kitchen is always a good start if you ask me.
