I’ve recently gotten back on my exercise routine and boy does it feel GOOD! I’ve decided that I don’t want all of my fall clothes that are currently in my closet to be able to fit me. Yes, that’s right. I want to go out and buy smaller sizes this fall…woo hoo! And, since I REFUSE to diet or give up the food I love (ahem, news flash…I love ALL FOOD!), exercise is the only way I see to work with my body. Yesterday Nathan was so excited to do the workout DVD with me that I got from the library. You should’ve seen us. Will was napping in his swing and N8 and I made full use of the family room. We were hoppin’ and movin’ around doing all kinds of hamstring curls, lunges, etc. He had a ball! We did about 35 minutes of cardio and then the 5 minute ab/back workout that was also on the DVD. Afterwards, we both felt really good and re-energized. I could definitely tell that around the 3 and 4 o’clock hour (which is my usual lull period) I didn’t seem to feel as tired and like I had no energy, which is usually how I feel around that time of day. Since David doesn’t usually get home till around 10:30, 4 o’clock is like the middle of my day and having 2 kiddos all to yourself ALL day long definitely wears on ya’!

Today after taking the kids to see a movie this afternoon, we came home and played indoor soccer and some other fun games as well as cleaned up a bit. Then, it was off to naptime for both boys who are strangely still both asleep! I put them down at about 4 o’clock, went and changed into my workout wear in like 20 seconds flat, and ran downstairs to hit the treadmill in the basement. I was able to get in about 30 minutes of cardio and quickly ran up to shower off. I just hope that Nathan doesn’t find out I exercised without him. Earlier today he asked when we were going to “exercise to the movie?”. Lately he’s been on this sit-ups kick. He LOVES to do sit-ups, especially when his Daddy can hold his legs stable. He’ll usually manage to squeeze out about 5 situps. I don’t know why we encourage it….the kid needs to gain weight!

I must say that the only bad thing about getting a workout late in the afternoon like this is that earlier this morning I had already taken a shower, fixed my hair, and put on makeup for the day, so having to take a shower and waste good makeup bums me out. But I guess the flip side to that is who needs makeup when you’ve got the rosy glow from exercise, huh?
