I received a call two days ago from a gal at Whole Foods that they’d drawn my name out of those who had entered and I’d won a fishing rod. Kind of offbeat, I know, considering I’ve never gone fishing in my life. But, I remember being there about a month or so ago and they had these kids fishing rods on display in the bakery area with a box and some entry slips. Nathan of course made me stop because there was a Spiderman rod on display and he wanted to actually take it home. (I think, “Mommy, let’s buy this” were his exact words). I explained to him that they were having a contest to give it and the other one away and that we could enter our names into the contest. I proceeded to fill out the entry blank and whaddya’ know….I actually won.

Only, it wasn’t the Spidey one. We went over to the store this morning after breakfast to get a few essentials and of course, claim our prize. When the gal came out from back with It was this one, I just laughed. She said that they’d drawn my name for that specific one. I told her that while I appreciated the free gift that I just thought it was funny since I don’t have any girls. She then looked down into the cart to see N8 and Will sitting there sampling on pineapple and she smiled too. I told her that we were thrilled nonetheless and we put the rod into our cart.

Of course, Nathan doesn’t care what the heck it looks like. He’s been playing with it all afternoon. He’s just happy to play with a dang fishing rod. We’ve been “going fishing” all afternoon and I’ve been able to hook quite a few catches on for him. I told him that if he wanted to, we could paint over the pink parts and put our own Spiderman or other stickers on it and decorate it how we want. I think he actually likes it as it is though.

Anyway, just another random prize drawing I won that I just had to share with the Internet.
