It was all icy outside again today so we busted out our massive gingerbread kit, which I got last month at a steal of a price at one of my favorite stores. Putting it together was such a cinch, I don’t know why I let it sit on top of the pantry for so long. Anyway, after taking inventory of all included pieces, I began to frost (glue) them together. Then Nathan helped me frost the rooftops and position it just so on top of the humble abode.
Then it was time for the fun.
The kit came with tons of decorating candies and goodies but we also busted out a few chocolate sprinkles for the sides of the roof and provided the swirl morsels visible above the front and back doors of the house. Nathan really did most of the decorating and provided all of the creative ideas behind it. Then, Will decided it was his turn to help. I thought he was going to help decorate, but what he really had in mind was to help eat the decorations. He’s a sucker for those hard candies!
Anyway, we decorated the house (after letting the initial frosting dry) for about two hours with some good Christmas tv on in the background.
We had so much fun but I was completely pooped after the ordeal and of course having to pick up sugar sprinkles from every nook and cranny in the kitchen. It was SO worth it though. Later on Nathan just kept saying how excited he was to show it to his Daddy when he came home from work and we just admired it all day long. Then it was time to light the fireplace again. What a fun day!
