Austin, Texas visit recap.

We’re back from our long weekend in Austin and boy was it fun!

Will’s first plane ride

For the most part he was good, although he did get a little fussy about halfway through the flight. He’s so mobile now that he just wants to get down from everywhere and into everything. Ugh. I had forgotten how exhausting those days are.

Nathan, on the other hand is a travelling pro. But, then again, look what he had to occupy his time—

Gotta love Midwest for their fabulous airfare but also their super comfy seats and of course the fresh, gooey chocolate chip cookies! YUM-O! We lucked out too because just before landing the flight attendant came by our row and plomped down a foil package that contained four extra cookies! Don’t know how we got so lucky because not everyone got the extra goods. He must’ve thought I needed the extra sugar.

Nathan and Will had a ball playing at Grammy’s.

Will & Uncle CJ jammin’ out.

Will’s first ride in Grandpa’s big black Texas truck.

Okay, one thing’s for sure…..I may not miss the Austin traffic but I certainly miss the culture, people and the FOOD! Dad took us out for lunch (although he and N8 had breakfast) at Joe’s Bakery which has been an Austin favorite for decades, literally.

I would’ve taken a photo of my enchiladas, taco, rice and beans but I gobbled it down too fast. I miss my Tex-Mex! Nathan and I also had fun putting some coins in the jukebox and playing some Los Lonely Boys music and Spanish Christmas tunes.

We also happened to be there when the big Zilker tree was lit so we went and checked that out on Saturday.

I saw the funnel cakes sign and I was there in a flash. Here’s what our $3.50 bought:

N8 was skeptical to try it at first but as you can see, he finally came around.

Then it was off to the Trail of Lights display which actually hadn’t even officially opened but I guess they were doing a test lighting, so lucky us! They had so many beautiful displays of lights and different themed showcases. Nathan really enjoyed it and Will slept the whole time while we walked and I carried him! My arms were about to fall off after the mile or so walk!

This one was my fave:
