A few days ago we’d heard about the fact that Greg (a.k.a. Yellow Wiggle) would be leaving the Wiggles group due to medical reasons. Well today when I let Nathan visit his favorite online gaming site, I saw the link that officially announced the news.

As I read through the press release and comments from the Wiggles, I was obviously disturbed and sad. Nathan kept saying, “what, Mommy??”

I just replied, “Oh, nothing. I am just reading something.”

I didn’t have the heart to tell him about what was going on. Nor did I even know how to. Apparently, they are going to be using a replacement for Greg’s character. The replacement is a long-time Wiggly dancer and is quite familiar with all of the routines of the group.

But it’s still not the same. It never will be.

For the first time ever, I truly felt at a loss for how to explain Greg’s leaving and the new changes to the Wiggles to Nathan. I mean, how do you put it so that a three year-old fan understands? I am sure it will be fine and Nathan probably won’t make near as big a deal of it as I am but still, it’s just a reminder to me that as the kiddo grows up, pieces of his childhood innocence are lost.
