Every time we visit the Farmstead, without fail, Nathan asks (more like begs) to go fishing. Most of the time we’re there with a group of friends or I am there with just the kids myself and so I have to tell him that he has to wait until someone can come along so they can help watch William.
Well, today, after about three weeks of working day and night (literally, thirteen hour work days), David was able to take half a day off. He came back from work at about 11 a.m. and we headed out to Elephant Bar for lunch. Normally we order the run-of-the-mill appetizer but today he coaxed me into trying some tempura sushi. I was skeptical but open to it. Boy, was it yummy! I think the reason I don’t much care for sushi is because it’s a cold food. But the tempura (fried) sushi was AWESOME! Very gingery which I LOVE. It’s so nice to know, too, that I can ask my sweet husband to actually make it for me when the mood strikes! Lunch was great. I had the half-rack of ribs and split it with Will. Then we all splurged on a brownie sundae which was also nice.
Then it was off to the farm. We had a great time but were so full that we didn’t take advantage of the free Blue Bell ice cream (my fave!) samples that were there. The park was crowded as there was lots going on with Dairy Days in full effect. The highlight was of course the fishin’.
Wiggly worms!

“Finally getting to fish!”
Nathan’s first catch of the day!
Will and I just sat and hung out on the nice swing right behind the boys!
“Gone fishin’!”
It was such a great day and I am so grateful we got some family time in. I know that it’s something that most families have every weekend but in our household it’s a rareity so it’s such a great treat when we actually get it! The boys did great at fishing too. David caught two and Nathan caught three! He was so proud!
