Lately with all of the Spanish classes that Nathan is in, he’s been more and more in touch with speaking in different languages at random times. We also use Spanish and Chinese out in public and pretend that it’s code word talk so that no one else understands us. Quite cool.
Anyway, he’s quick to remind me to say “de nada” when he says “gracias” to me for handing him something or giving him permission to do something. He eagerly says:
“Mommy, mommy! You have to say “de nada” because I said “gracias”!!”
Or, he’ll say something like:
“Xie, xie (pronounced ‘she-eh she-eh’) Mommy, xie, xie…..now you have to say ‘bu ke chi’…say it, Mommy, say it!”
It’s quite cool to hear him speak so freely in his other languages. I am so proud that he’s confident in speaking in Spanish and Chinese. He was also quite proud of himself the other day when he randomly told me:
“Mommy, I know how to say ‘down’ in Spanish……”
[me: “really, how?”]
N8: “Abajo, abajo!”
I’m glad to see his Spanish classes paying off.
