Big saver.

David’s mom came home from Taiwan awhile back with a great little piggy bank for Nathan. It’s actually one that you’d have to literally break in order to get into. It has a slot for coins but no opening to let them out, which is a great thing.

Anyway, ever since receiving it, he’s been obsessed with finding spare change. Every single penny, nickel, dime or quater he finds, he excitedly exclaims “Look, mommy, I found some money for my penny bank!” Yes, he refers to it as his “penny” bank.

He’s got quite a few coins in there now and his favorite thing is when David comes home and unloads his pockets (he’s not a fan of carrying change around) and places the coins on the counter and says, “here Nathan, some coins for your penny bank”. Nathan then hurriedly runs over and scoops them off the countertop and will hang onto them until it’s time to go up for bed. It’s routine now to stop off in his room to fill his penny bank before brushing teeth or making a potty break.

If you ask him what the money in his bank is for, he’ll gladly tell you that it’s for something really, really special. Hmmm….we’ll have to see what that actually turns out to be someday.
