Although the sun was shining today, I was still in a t-shirt, longsleeves, and jeans, and still cold. My throat has even been a little scratchy today. I will have to say that today was a great family day though.

After Nathan’s violin lesson and Spanish class we headed home to pick up David and Will and then headed out for lunch to Cici’s Pizza. We went after the lunch rush so it was pretty relaxing there and not as wild as it usually is. Plus, David had been holding onto some game tokens he and Nathan had found while they were there a while back so they got to use those up after we were done with lunch. What I realized while we were having lunch there is that David is the WAAAY cooler parent between the two of us and I am the “bad guy”. Let me explain. When Nathan was done with lunch David had asked him if he was ready for dessert. Nathan of course replied with a resounding “YESSS!” so he scooted off the booth and followed David over to the dessert area. On his way walking over, I heard Nathan say

“Daddy, I want THREE brownies!”

I of course thought nothing of it because I of course knew that there was NO WAY David would actually give him three brownies. Well, I was wrong. They both returned to the table with David carrying two plates – one for him and one for Nathan that had THREE brownies. I looked at the plate then at David and he says to me, very matter-of-factly:

“What? He said he wanted three brownies.”

I looked at him in total disbelief and snatched one of the brownies off of the plate and had basically responded that it was too bad but he most certainly would NOT have three brownies. While Nathan expressed how obviously upset he was about me taking a brownie away, I kindly and firmly made clear that he could either have “this” [holding up plate with two brownies], OR NOTHING. Yeah, he took the “this” in about two seconds flat. That’s what I thought, little man.

Anyway, lunch was fine and we headed home to put the boys down for naps because we had family pictures scheduled later at about 5 p.m. David was a gem getting both boys dressed before the pics while I primped and painted myself up. What a great husband for allowing me time to actually put on mascara! We headed over to the picture studio, which by the way we had never been to before. Nathan’s preschool does these photo shoots as a fundraiser so we basically pay $29 and get a great package deal on pics which includes lots of prints and the session, plus the preschool gets a percentage for supplies and such. Seeing as how the last family picture we took was when I was about six weeks pregnant with Will, I decided this would be a good time to get a pic done.

Will had other plans. Yeah, saying he didn’t enjoy the photo shoot is putting it mildly. He looked so handsome but that handsomeness soon turned to huge tears and a pink, crying face. Luckily, the photographer was able to get one decent pose out of him (he wasn’t anywhere NEAR smiling, though) so I think we’ll at least get a halfway decent photo together. I guess it’s better than nothing, and it’s not like we paid some big bucks for the photos anyway. Nathan, on the other hand, was smiling on cue. He’s always been that way though. It’s just so crazy how different their personalities are but I love them both nonetheless.

So after our big shoot we headed home to change out of our picture outfits and went over to the school park in our ‘hood. The boys always have so much fun there. Tonight there happened to be a little league football team practicing and David and I watched a bit. It got me so excited to think about my boys playing one day. Later on, David and I were talking about how you have to have a thick skin as a parent to be okay with football coaches yelling at your kids and being hard on them. I told David how I totally am up for that. I just love the game of football and I think I’d make a great verbal coach! I WANT my kids to have a coach that isn’t soft; one that will make them love the aggressiveness of the game and bring out the competitiveness in his players. Anyway, I digress.

Nathan made a friend there (as usual) and they played a bit on the playground and with the soccer ball, then we headed over to the blacktop area where Nathan rode around on his bike and Will and David shot some baskets. Nathan and I played some hopscotch and then he and David started doing racing and running drills. We ended up staying for a little bit longer then grabbed some dinner and headed over to Target to pick up a few groceries. It was weird being at Target all together as a family. I am so used to doing the shopping by myself but it was a fun time. The lady in front of me dropped $346.94 which I almost choked over. I came out at $31 after the clerk tabulated all of my coupons. I love my coupons.

Then, it was home for bathtime (thanks for your help again, honey!) and bedtime, and some good ‘ol DVR-watching time for David and me. Okay, peeps, enough of this blogging business, I need to crash.

Gnite, Gdog (that’s for you, sis’)
