With so many wonderful fruits {and veggies} in season right now, I find myself craving drinks and snacks that I can incorporate them into.  The other day I pretty much finished off an entire pint of organic grape tomatoes along with some hummus that my sister had in her fridge that was just begging to be eaten!

Earlier this month my mom and I threw my sister a baby shower and I received a punch recipe from a friend of mine that she thought would be perfect to serve to guests.  It sounded yummy so when the time came to buy the ingredients, I referred back to the recipe.  In my usual fashion, I ended up making a variation of the actual recipe she sent me, mostly because  I was too lazy to buy orange juice and pineapple juice and instead bought the orange-pineapple juice to save myself a step {and a couple of bucks}.

This drink received so many compliments during the shower though!  It was so refreshing but light and not too terribly sweet.  I could also see that it would be easy to make your own variations depending upon the types of fruits or fruit juices you wanted to incorporate.

So if you’ve got company coming or just need a new, fun drink recipe to serve the kids this summer, try this Zesty Tropical Party Punch.  It’s great in a big ‘ol punch bowl or just in one of those big countertop drink containers with spouts.

What you need:

1 – 2 liter bottle of ginger ale

1 can of frozen lemonade {thawed}

6 cups chilled Dole brand Pineapple-Orange juice {or can subsititue just pineapple or just orange juice}

2 heaping scoops of pineapple sherbet

2 heaping scoops of orange sherbet

What you do:

In a large punchbowl or other container, mix the ginger ale, lemonade, and pineapple-orange juice together.  Add in the sherbet just before serving and mix around again.  Using ladle, serve in individual cups and enjoy!

Variations:

I could see infusing this punch recipe with your favorite fresh fruits or other seasonal sherbets. You could totally create anything based on what you’ve got on hand!
