I seriously hate that children’s clothing retailers, including this one, have no shame in manufacturing boys shorts, pants and swim trunks with faux drawstrings!  Seriously!  Would it really kill them to make a functional piece of clothing?  My boys are not hippy so they definitely need drawstrings on pants or adjustable waists.  I mean why even have a drawstring on a pair of swim trunks if you can’t even make them fit better?

This past weekend when I was shopping for them, I was going around taking things off hangers to test out the drawstrings on shorts since I never know if it actually is a functional tie or just for show.  I was not a happy shopper.  As such, I only ended up buying bottoms for them that featured an adjustable waist since literally ALL of the drawstring ties were fakes.

Real drawstrings are a strangulation hazard. That’s why little kids’ clothes don’t have them anymore.

And I thought I had problems finding clothes! It sucks that something like drawstrings are so dangerous for kids – we need some serious parenting advocation in this world if swim trucks are hazardous. If I had a sewing machine, I’d make some myself for them…maybe I can knit some.

i don’t see how drawstrings on your WAIST pose a strangulation hazard, but dang, that sucks for we moms who value a drawstring waist for our kids! I still don’t see the point of having them “appear” there with no real function, though!

You’ve obviously never seen my brothers tie the drawstring waist around their necks just to “see if they could”. At the time I wished they’d become another statistic, but now I’m glad they survived their killer bathing suits.
