Moving into a new home can be really exciting, but also overwhelming. There is a laundry list of things to get accomplished on your moving to-do list. It can also be very stressful. Luckily, we have gathered a few ways you can make sure you have a stress-free move. No matter if you are hiring movers or if you are taking on the task yourself, these tips will make it easy.

Keep Things Centralized

Make a spot for your packing list, labels, tape, boxes, wrapping paper, tape and any other moving supplies you may have. Constantly searching for the tape every time you finish packing away a box can make the entire experience more stressful than it needs to be. Eliminate the time spent looking for important packing materials and put them all in one place around the house. That way whenever you are looking for these materials, you know exactly where to go and you will find it there every time.

Create A Packing List

It can seem like instinct to start packing things right away but slow your roll. First, create a packing list. Take inventory of everything you own that you want to take with you into your new place. Write down those things. This ensures that you do not let anything slip through the cracks. It is also recommended that you number every packed box and write down what is in those boxes on your packing list.

Get Color Coded

This is one way you can stay organized during the packing process. Assign a color to each room in your new place and put the respective color stickers on each packed box. Another option is to put those respective color stickers on the doors to each room that way your movers know where to move those boxes.

Like Things Stay Together

The things that make sense together like lamps and light bulbs should be packed in the same boxes if possible. You should put your picture frames and hooks together as well. Make sure that you pack your kitchen with all the things you need for the kitchen. Simply put, keep the things that make sense together. You will not have to waste time digging through boxes once you move into your new place trying to find those packed away items quickly.

Pack Early

Procrastinating is a sure way to stress you out during your move. You do not want to wait until the last minute to start packing up your home or apartment. As soon as it becomes final that you are moving, get started. If you pack everything ahead of time, you will not feel rushed when the actual move out date comes. Anything that you do not need to live your daily life, pack away until it is time to move.

Create A Cleaning Kit

You will undoubtedly need to clean when you are moving out of your old place. Create a cleaning kit with all your cleaning supplies. This helps you stay organized. You will not have to worry about accidentally boxing up your cleaning supplies because you would have set it aside.
