If you have a family of four or more, it can feel like you spend your life attending various medical appointments. At some points, you might even be in the dentist's or doctor’s office every single week! But what if you could cut that time in half by simply booking checkups for the whole family wherever possible?
Obviously, certain problems will still require individual visits, but when it comes to things like annual checkups with your dentist, or ongoing treatments like family chiropractic care, there’s really no reason why you can’t simply book a bulk set of appointments back-to-back and attend together.
If you aren’t convinced, then keep on reading to find out why making medical checkups a whole family affair could help you all.
# 1 – Saving Time
Anything that helps you save time as a parent is a great thing, and whole-family appointments certainly do that. Just think of it like this – booking individual dental appointments means spending a minimum of half an hour on this pursuit each time. That’s a total of two hours just for the dentist’s office if you have a family of four. By comparison, booking in at the same time means a ten-minute appointment each (plus travel time), which will put you at no longer than an hour. That’s half of the time you would spend here otherwise!
Considering that you’ll also all need to attend annual doctor and chiropractic checkups, simply booking in bulk could save you as much as four hours. That time could prove invaluable for simplifying days that already feel hectic enough without this added pressure!
# 2 – Setting the Right Example
If you have young kids, booking appointments together provides a great opportunity to set the right example. If you go first, your children will see that there’s nothing to worry about, and will also see first-hand what they can expect during their own treatment.
This is especially important with treatments that can seem daunting, such as dental fillings, and can ensure that your children are far less likely to panic if they need something similar. Even if you don’t need any treatment, the chance to see you prioritizing your health with regular appointments can help to breed healthier habits in your kids for the future!
# 3 – Holding you Accountable
While we’re very good at making sure our children attend annual health checkups, we’re not quite so good at ensuring we do the same thing. Luckily, whole family appointments are a great way to make sure this is no longer the case.
After all, you’re far less likely to hold off on making an appointment or to cancel the moment something else comes up if your children’s health is also riding on that booking. As such, you can start taking care of yourself, at the same time as you’re taking care of them this way.
While you might need to wait a little longer for a full-family booking slot across your annual health providers, there’s no denying that doing so is worthwhile when you consider these benefits!
