You will already understand many of the factors that could put your health at risk. A diet of takeaway foods, a lack of exercise, and addictions to such things as smoking, alcohol, and chocolate, are all clearly bad for you.

However, there could be other ways you're putting your health at risk, and it might be that you don't even know it! As we discussed in a previous article, this might be because you regularly fall for common health myths. The following could also be reasons why you could be endangering your health.

#1: Your doctor isn't a good one

Don't get us wrong here. Most doctors are highly capable people and they have the experiences and certifications to prove it. However, there are those doctors who aren't as good as others. Some doctors are rude and abrupt with their patients and this can deter people from visiting them. There are those who have given bad advice or wrongful treatment, which will often be evidenced by patients who have needed to call on a medical malpractice attorney. And in rare cases, there are also those that aren't properly licensed to give out advice in the first place!

If you suspect you aren't getting the best care from your doctor, don't assume you have to stay with them forever! Research other doctors in the area by reading doctor review sites and asking for recommendations, and register with a doctor that is better for you. Your health could be at risk if you don't!

#2: You're drinking a lot of diet soda

You already know that regular soda is bad for you but surely diet soda is okay, right? There is less sugar in it for starters, so the risks to your health should be minimal. Well, sorry to say it but diet soda isn't conducive to good health. As you can read in this article on the dangers of diet soda, it can still erode your teeth, increase your risk of certain health conditions, and increase your craving to eat something sweet.

Of course, moderation is key, so you can reduce any risks to your health by drinking less diet soda a day. According to the linked article, 6 to 8 ounces should be your maximum. Alternatively, drink something that is better for your health, such as unsweetened fruit juices, water, and sparkling water if you're craving something fizzy.

#3: You're forever glued to social media

Social media is supposed to make us feel more connected with other people but it can actually have the opposite effect. For starters, it can limit the amount of face-to-face contact we have with others, especially when we solely communicate via our screens. It can also make us dislike others, as we can become envious and angry when reading what other people have posted. The fact that we can become addicted to social media is another problem, as is the fact that we limit physical activity when we're glued to our phones and devices.

Each of these factors can lead to poor mental health, and in the case of the last point, poor physical health too. The solution? Turn your phone off more often, regularly visit other people to alleviate issues around social isolation, and do other things with your time, such as activities that encourage exercise.

Can you relate to any of the above? If so, consider our suggestions to prevent damage to your health. Then consider other aspects of your life that might be bad for you. By taking steps to help yourself now you will safeguard your future wellbeing.
