By now, you have undoubtedly heard about the upcoming release of the Shaun the Sheep Movie, which hits theaters August 5th. The moment we saw the previews for this at another movie earlier this year, all 4 of my boys laughed out loud and told me how excited they were to see Shaun the Sheep when it opened up. I’m thrilled that time is finally here! Moviegoing is one of our family’s most favorite past times.

One reason I think we’re all going to LOVE Shaun the Sheep Movie is because it’s a claymation movie. We have always enjoyed family friendly claymation movies and Shaun the Sheep will be no different. It’s hard sometimes to find movies that the whole family can attend together, and have each person truly enjoy the movie. I am thinking that Shaun the Sheep Movie is definitely this kind of movie. It looks hilarious and like it would keep all of us in stitches. After all, isn’t that what family movie date is all about?!

 

The basic synopsis is about when Shaun decides to take the day off and have some fun. He ends up getting a little more action than he bargained for.  A mix up with the Farmer, a caravan, and a very steep hill lead them all to the Big City and it’s up to Shaun and the flock to return everyone safely to the green grass of home.

Shaun the Sheep Movie is a perfect movie for any family (like ours) because it is geared toward children ages 4-10. My kids have really enjoyed watching various trailers and sneak peeks of the movie, especially this fun scene:

 

Seriously, I love all the attention to details that this movie brings with it. The sheep and related characters throughout are simply hilarious! But being funny isn’t the only thing that Shaun the Sheep Movie has going for it. You’ll love how the movie reinforces life skills like teamwork, leadership, and problem solving — all of which are vital messages for kids. These are of course all presented in a lighthearted way, which makes the movie even more endearing.
