What a fab day!  It started with the kids waking me up to the whispers of "Happy Mother's Day, Mom!" and all of my fun gifts!  Two great necklaces with sweet sayings on the back, and two wonderfully funny cards that both Nathan and William made at their schools.  And then a great Hallmark musical card that literally brought me to tears! As it opened up, "You Are My Sunshine" played.  It is extremely meaningful because this is one of the songs that I sing to them every single night just after we turn the lights out for bedtime.  David told me Will instantly picked it out from the selections at the store and I was not surprised – he's the one that requests it each evening!

Then I was treated to a lovely brunch that had way more delicious food than I could've ever expected!  The kids loved it because they  got to eat eggs, pancakes topped with marshmallows, and burger sliders all in the same meal!  The rest of the afternoon and evening was spent doing absolutely nothing! I haven't done that in a while.

It's hard to believe that I've been a mother for nearly seven years now.  It has flown oh-so fast!  I often look at my boys and find myself trying to imagine them as teenagers or even as grown men and how the days of snuggling them will be over.  Everyday I try harder and harder to stop time and of course it's not working.  But my kids have taught me so much.  What I've learned about being a mother—

1.  I am a stronger person than I EVER thought I was and can endure more than I ever thought I could!

2.  Patience is not my friend.  Even when I pray about it.

3.  Speaking of praying, God really IS in charge, no matter how hard I try to be.

4.  My Type-A personality has NO place in motherhood!

Happy Mother's Day to all of you!
