I have to admit, making dinner meal plans and actually cooking meals for my family is one of my most dreaded to-dos as a mother. I’m busy with so many other things that when it comes to cooking and what to feed my family, I just don’t have the energy to think very hard about it. Compound that apathy with the fact that we are just settling into a busy back-to-school routine, and you’ve got a recipe for chaos. I usually fight menu planning kicking and screaming like a cranky toddler. So you can imagine how thrilled I was recently to discover this time-saving and family friendly recipe book from Pillsbury. It’s packed full of easy, yummy, and fun recipes that can save your weeknight meal planning. They all feature the oh-so-divine Pillsbury Grands Biscuits we’ve all come to know and love. I recently tried the Grands! Mini Pizzas and my boys were quite thrilled with this new addition to our meal rotation.
These were so easy to make and they came out delicious! I would have never thought to use the biscuit dough for homemade pizzas but I now have a new favorite go-to meal that can satisfy everyone in the house.
What I love about Pillsbury Grands! Biscuits is that they make it easy to we busy moms to serve a variety of family favorite recipes in 30 minutes or less. With the unique recipes from Pillsbury, I can finally approach meal planning with a smile knowing that my meals will be delicious and fun so my kids don’t get bored of the same old thing for dinner.
Some of the ways I’ve found that help keep me on track with back to school dinner ideas are:
- I always ask my kids and hubs to share at least one thing they’d like me to serve for dinner during the week. That way, each person has their pick and I don’t get stuck trying to come up with what to make.
- Let my kids help with either prep or cooking whenever possible. They love helping me in the kitchen and they can also learn to put together some of their own food creations.
- Keep a list of meal ideas and each and every ingredient needed for the meal. That way, when it’s time to grocery shop, I’m not wasting time re-writing what I need to get for the week.
- On days where we may have to eat in shifts due to practice times overlapping or meeting scheduled during the week, I try and anticipate that and plan accordingly so that I make a meal that will reheat well.
- Consider asking other moms what they are serving for dinner to help get some ideas on what to plan for your family. Sometimes it’s fun to swap recipes with friends and it instantly adds to the meal rotation list.
I’d love to hear your back to school meal planning tips as well. And, if you get a chance to check out the Pillsbury Recipe Booklet, let me know in the comments what recipe you’re most excited and likely to try. There are so many great ideas there! Happy eating!
