There is nothing easy about life as a working mother. Trying to balance the physical work of commuting to your workplace, spending a day at work and also coming home to run a house and manage kids? That’s a lot of things. Sometimes, that can be too much and yet you have to then learn all that you can to make life as easy as possible to be a working parent.
Whether you are a business owner who is seeking an AI sales solution while managing diapers at night time, or you are working for a company who needs you for your skillset, you need to do all that you can to make your life easy. You need things to be simple, you need to be able to feel like your life is balanced. Some days, it can feel like pure survival trying to keep all of the plates spinning at the same time. Other days, you feel totally in control and like life is easy to manage and always will be. The key thing is to know every hack that you can get your hands on. Let’s take a look at how you can make life easier as a working Mom.
- Always, always ask for help. If you want to be impactful as a working parent, then you need to think about asking for help. Going it alone is not the right thing to do when you are working and raising a family. In fact, it’s the one thing that you could be doing entirely wrong. You need to ask people for help and whether you get a babysitter or a nanny, or you choose to delegate your work, you need a helping hand. You can try to do it all, but the chances are you won’t be able to.
- Delegate. It’s okay to let go of your work from time to time. You need to be able to ask your colleagues for help and feel good about it. If you are leading a company, then having a staff force under you that you have trained will mean that you are able to hand things to people you can trust.
- Don't let it get on top of you. You need to try and keep work and life separate and while it’s easy to procrastinate, you need to think about working in your work hours, and parenting always. If you’re at home, focus on your home life. If you’re at work, do all you can to focus on your working life. Get organized, get up early and start your day early, too.
- Look after yourself. You have to look after your body and your mind as much as possible. Your plate may be full but you cannot offer your sanity and your energy to other people while not giving yourself any of it. You need to pamper yourself and have time when you’re not wearing your ‘Mom’ hat and you’re not wearing your ‘worker’ hat. Time for yourself is important.
- Accept that perfection is a reach. You can’t always be perfect. It’s okay. Be what you can be and be the best of it.
