Juice Box Jungle recently posted some info about spanking being replaced by shouting in today's families.  I'm not sure how I feel about that.  Have I ever spanked my kids?  Yes.  Do I think I'm a monster because of it?  No.  Do I regret it?  No.

Honestly, I feel ten times worse after shouting or screaming at my kids than if I'd just pulled them into their room and explained to them their punishment, then spanked them on their bottoms.  I know, I know, this isn't going to sit well with all or most of you, but I'm just being honest here.

I grew up in a very loving home that also included discipline by form of spanking. Not always, but certainly when times called for it.  Do I think my parents were wrong or bad because of it?  Not at all.  I turned out VERY well-rounded and led a completely normal childhood.  Not to mention, I'm Hispanic so I have to believe in spanking!  Ha, just joking….that was completely intended for George Lopez to read!

But seriously, I think too many times people lose sight of the fact that there is a HUGE difference between spanking and beating a child.  Check out the video on this topic below and give me your thoughts.

I agree with you. I feel much worse when I yell at my kids than when I spank them. After a swat on the butt, they chill out. After I yell, they wind up angrier, and nothing seems to get resolved. Not only that, but when I yell, there are times I’m so angry that I say things I definitely regret later.
On the other hand, my daughter says I have nothing on my sister when it comes to yelling. She’s got the market cornered on that!
