What IS a Nueva Latina, you ask? A nueva Latina is someone who is comfortable in her own skin, yet able to adapt to just about any situation that comes her way. As a bicultural community, we represent strong, independent women who celebrate having the best of two worlds: one being rooted in our Hispanic culture and the other seizing our limitless potential in the U.S.: The Nueva Latina!
Recently I had the awesome opportunity and honor of taking part in a webinar with celebrtiy Adrienne Bailon where she discussed her thoughts on the Nueva Latina and how she has been able to find success in the world of fashion, television, music, and more.
What I loved about listening to and learning from Adrienne was how extremely down-to-earth she is and how she embraces every bit of her Nueva Latinahood without reservation. I was able to ask her a few questions about what she's learned about herself since all of her successes and I was very pleased to hear that has been able to realize that she is more resilient than she ever thought possible. She's learned a great deal about being true to who she is has been the key to her reaching happiness and success.
I also loved that her idea of fall wardrobe must-haves for Latinas include a great pair of jeans and comfy and fashionable boots. Hmmm, I foresee some shopping in my near future! Her sense of style seems so easy and effortless; a look that any Latina can afford to pull off. And speaking of affordability, she also talked about how her friends have dubbed her "Frugal Fran" since she likes to be smart with her money – a big difference from being cheap. I couldn't agree more. I find myself craving frugality no matter WHAT I buy — clothes, housewares, and even food! As a Nueva Latina, using all the resources out there that will help you stretch your dollar is simply smart.
