It’s sometimes hard to believe that I am starting this mothering journey yet again with my new baby girl. From the time I first became a mom, – nearly 12 years ago – up until now, the time seems to have gone by in a huge blur.
One thing I am doing differently with my sweet girl, is truly embracing every aspect of motherhood that before, I might have been too “busy” to appreciate. There are days that go by where the sink is full of dishes, the carpet is desperately seeking my vacuum, and the dryer has been restarted for the 4th time that day. But through all of this chaos, I’m afforded the opportunity to cherish the moment with my baby.
I truly love those moments where I can make eye contact and she lovingly coos and looks at me. And those times where I can feel her breath on the side of my neck as she falls into a deep sleep after a feeding, make me never want to put her down. Mostly because I know all too well how quickly this time in our lives is going to go by. I think that’s what I’m better at now as a mom – cherishing the chaos and sleepless nights, and all that comes along with a newborn. Instead of dreading and complaining about how it drains me, I try and use these moments of motherhood to fill my soul up and keep me appreciating all the small moments that will go by oh-so-fast.
Did you know that by age three, 85% of a baby’s brain is developed? That means it’s important to engage with your child from the first moments of his or her life. Simply holding your baby skin-to-skin – so his or her bare skin is touching yours – has important benefits.
This is where JOHNSON’S® products come into play in my household. A mom’s touch is certainly a powerful thing in a child’s life. I am absolutely in love with the new video from JOHNSON’S® because it celebrates all those small moments that can be easy to overlook in the routine of every day.
What is your favorite way to cherish those moments of motherhood with your child?
