This morning during breakfast I discovered a new favorite of Will’s. He actually invented his own new favorite and it happened by accident. I had given him a few Cheerios on his tray to keep him occupied while I finished buttering the raisin toast for he and I, but I was also going to try and give him some applesauce. So, I’d opened up the container of applesauce and set it on the table. Well, he had other plans for his Cheerios this morning. He began flinging them off of his tray and onto the floor, table, wherever. One happened to land right on top of the open container of applesauce. So, when I returned to the table and got ready to serve him a spoonful of the applesauce, I left the Cheerio right on top. He took the bite, felt and heard the crunch of it in his mouth and looked at me in delight.
I then spooned another serving of applesauce (sans Cheerios) and brought it up to his mouth. He grunted, then looked down at his tray of Cheerios, grabbed one, and placed it on top of the spooned applesauce, THEN took the bite. He was hooked. He finished the rest of the container of applesauce in this manner, sometimes putting two or three Cheerios on top of his heaping spoon of applesauce. Anyway, I guess he must like the soft and crunchy combination. But if it gets him to eat the applesauce then I am all for it.
