My dad. A simple but yet complicated man. I love him though. And Dad, I know you don’t really read this (your dial-up connection is just too slow) but I just want to wish you a very Happy Father’s Day. It’s been way too long since we’ve seen you and hopefully that’ll change soon.

I am like you in so many ways….and it sometimes scares me. Yes, I have a filing place for every single paper in my house. Thanks for also respecting my girly-ness but showing me not to be afraid to be trapped in it. I can change a tire, air up my own tires, check and change the oil in my car, do handywork around the house, and other things I so often saw you doing when I followed you around the house as a young girl. I know what an alternator does, a transmission, I know how to jump start a car with those cable thingys and that the first thing to do when your battery goes out is to clean off the corrosion from the little thingys that clamp onto your battery. Sometimes there’s just too much gunk on there and the battery doesn’t need to necessarily be replaced.

I am also insanely frugal. I hate going anywhere I don’t have a coupon for. I know how to work a crowd and am not afraid of who I am. Most of all, I am sentimental. I have an abundance of family pride and also relish in creating and preserving family tradition. I don’t throw anything away….sound familiar? But hey, at least we have a place for everything, right?

Anyway, all of these things that are so you, are also so me. I love you very much and hope you know you’re appreciated and thought of this Father’s Day.

Oh, and one more thing….sorry but the whole Dallas Cowboys thing? Nope, that didn’t stick. Not a Cowboys fan. But, am DEFINITELY a football fan! Thanks, Dad!
