Hot weather is good!

I have been living it up these days with it being so hot and steamy for a change.  I keep trying to push back the thoughts of how in just a few short months it will damn freezing cold, icy, slushy, and depressing outside.  The thoughts of how I'll have to let the car warm up for a good five minutes before taking off and keeping the seat warmers in my car on all the time.  Thoughts of how much longer it will take all of us to get out of the house, having to put on and zip up coats, gloves, mittens, beanie hats, boots, and other boring, depressing winter gear.  I mean, who really wants to tack on an additional ten minutes onto their let's get ready to leave the house time?  Slipping your toes through a pair of flip-flops as you dash out the door is so much easier (and cuter!) to do with a carload of kids in tow.  And lastly, I am trying to push back even futher in my mind, the fact that we'll soon be going days without seeing the sun and getting our good 'ol vitamin D dosage.  I hate not seeing the sun.  The sun is my friend.

But for today we at the T household were able to enjoy the thrills of summer and get outside for some playtime.  D and I busted out our Spiderman slip 'n slide (a great post-summer clearance find last year for about seven bucks) and we filled up the kiddie pool once again.  W is continuing with his aversion to anything sprinkly, as he wanted nothing to do with the slip 'n slide.  He was content watching N go through over and over again without ceasing.  D did manage to toss W down the slip 'n slide a couple of times though and the whole hood heard him screaming "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Then tonight before dinner we spent a couple of hours down in the basement playing and watching one of the kids' favorite DVDs.  D got some time in playing XBOX and I was busy trying to back up my computer down there with all of my files, but didn't quite finish.  I forget how nice it is to get down there into our basement and just chill (literally and figuratively).  It's a nice change of scenery and the kids always stumble upon toys they'd forgotten they had.

Here's to more lazy days of summer.  Pretty soon this post will just be a faint memory of the most wonderful season EVER!
