Things have been pretty quiet here this week, I know. Our church/school is having Vacation Bible School (VBS) this week, which I've come to realize also stands for Very Busy Summer. Yikes, it's been busy! This week has flown by!
The kids are loving hanging out with their friends, learning about Jesus' love for them, and of course, games, snacks, crafts, and more.
As in years past, I am helping out with the whole VBS week again this year, but in a little different capacity. For the past few years I've been the photographer (although I don't claim to even be as good as a novice photographer) for the week's events and then been in charge of putting together and running the slideshow on the Finale presentation. This year I took a more administrative position as the Registration coordinator, which has really turned out to be more like the Assistant to the Director of the whole production! WOW, this VBS thing is a lot of work!
I'm not complaining, just totally in awe of how hard all of the wonderful mom and dad volunteers have worked to make this whole thing happen for our kids! It takes an amazing amount of time and talent to pull this whole thing off! There were a few kinks with registration and getting the kids where they needed to be on the first day, but since then it's been pretty smooth sailing. I've been staying busy each morning while the kids are at their different sessions, though, with things like working on the following day's stuff, making copies of things, helping put out little fires, and so on.
It has been nice, though, to be in a busy work mode all this week since the kids are staying busy as well. I am certainly looking forward to next week though, when we have some down time to plan some fun outings and things to check off of our summer to-do list! But for now, we're all enjoying VBS!
