Now that we've hit football season {yay!} I know serving up lots of great appetizers is on the horizon. Hubs and I like to usually do appetizers for dinner on Saturday nights with the kids since we're all usually watching college football. And, no doubt that guacamole is one of our go-to apps.
The other day I was at Sam's Club purchasing a few things and I happened to sample this guacamole and instantly loved it! Even better is that the kids loved it and asked me to make it. So a few days later I made it to go along with our smoked brisket dinner. I hope you'll enjoy making it for your friends and family soon too! The recipe is super simple but takes your average guacamole up just a notch.
Rockin' Guac
What you need:
3 ripe avocados, mashed
1 can (10 oz) diced tomatoes and green chiles, drained {Ro-Tel is a great brand but I have also used Super Target's Market Pantry brand and they are just as good but cheaper!}
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1 Tbsp. lime juice {can sub lemon}
salt & black pepper, to taste
chopped cilantro {optional}
What to do:
Mix the avocados, drained tomatoes, onion, lime or lemon juice, and salt until well blended. Then, mix in cilantro {if you're using it} and black pepper. Enjoy!
Tip: Keep one of the pits inside the guacamole bowl and cover tightly and refrigerate until ready to eat. The pit will help keep the guacamole from turning brown.
