When you’ve spent the best part of the last five years raising babies and having more babies to raise, you kind of lose yourself. The job that you were doing once, the one you stepped back from to be a stay at home Mom has lost its appeal and the thought of what to do next can be particularly overwhelming. The children are now in school full time, which has just earned you the greatest gift you could ever get: time.

For a few weeks, you could see the appeal of dropping the kids off at school and having a few leisurely hours to yourself, but that doesn’t always last. Eventually, you start to get bored and realise that you’ve lost yourself a little. This isn’t altogether unusual; after all, you’re spending time doing housework and milling around putting some life into hobbies again, but what about something for you? Eventually, school won’t be the only break you get from the children, as they’re going to move out and move on one day – and then what will you do with your time? Well, now you have the empty nest, it’s time to fill yourself up again.

There is so much that you could do for yourself when you have the time away from the monotonous routines and school routines. Your life is no longer timetabled, which means that you can choose to do what you want, when you want to do it. The trick is to allow yourself to do it! You have all the time in the world now to rediscover who you are now that you’ve had your children. You may have a different career path in mind, with all the time available to head to this website and get your qualifications up to scratch. You may decide to do nothing BUT study, given that now you have the time to get the degrees and qualifications that you didn’t get to have when you were younger.

Now that you have a time, you can also figure out how to employ a self-care routine. When there are small children around all the time, it can be very difficult to look after yourself in a way that makes you feel fulfilled. So, while you’re exercising your mind with new certifications and degrees, you could also choose to exercise yourself and pay for a personal trainer. It’s up to you to make progress that really counts, and seeking a new side of yourself is going to take time that you didn’t know that you needed. One of the biggest lessons you’ll learn with the children away for a few hours a day is that being on your own is absolutely fine. Learning to spend some time with your own company is a good thing and could be positive for your personal development.

Enjoy the quiet and eating a meal at a leisurely pace, because once that school bus pulls up, the routine sinks right in again!
