When you have children, travel and vacations certainly don't have to stop. There are so many things that you can do with children, and make so many precious memories together. The thing is planning it all well, so that everyone can have a good time. Long gone are the days of spontaneous trips; you do need to plan things out, so you know that there are things that will cater to all of the family members. So with that in mind, here are some of the things to think about.
Newborn to age three
When you travel with babies and little ones, then before they start to walk, it can be a really good time to do it. They are portable, sleep a lot, and most of the time will be simple to feed as they’ll still be on majority milk. So planning a vacation then should be mainly around things that the parents want to do, though perhaps nothing like extreme water sports, unless you take it in turns!
Toddlers can be a little more difficult, as they can have tantrums, be picky with what they eat, and need to have more of a routine. Which is why not straying too far can be a good idea. A vacation with a beach or a pool can be good. Tire them out with swimming, walks and visits to places like a zoo, because they do have short attention spans, and then it will be all good.
Ages three to seven
These are ages where children really are like sponges, and take it all in. So it is a good idea to have some scheduled things planned, but also allow for some free time, as it is important at this age. Most children these ages aren’t generally that excited about things like museums or cultural or historical activities. However, check ahead of time, as if there are family-friendly exhibits, they can learn a lot. This is the age that can be perfect to introduce them to roller coasters at somewhere like Disneyworld, so that could be with checking out with some Disney travel agents. They have less of a schooled at this age, so make the most of it and plan some fun things, and they will be way better on a plan at this age too, so traveling far isn’t off the cards.
Ages eight to twelve
By these ages, kids will have developed some strong interests and likes. So it can be a good idea to pay attention to those things that they like, so that it can be a success for all of the family. Getting them involved in the planning can be a good idea, as they may know exactly where they want to go or what they want to do. Adventurous kids might want to go to the mountains, and animal-crazy kids might want to go somewhere where they can go horseback riding. Getting them involved helps a lot, and then the world is your oyster!
