Days are a blur for many moms, whether you have one young child or many, especially if you also have a career. While there are many guides about how to get your child to sleep, there are far fewer about how to wind down as a mom in the evening. This guide is for you to help ensure that you end the day well. Think of the activities below as ones to check off the to-do list at night.
Take Care of the Dishes
If you’re unhappy with this one, don’t worry, you’re not alone. There are not many people who love washing dishes.
But there are also fewer things worse than waking up in the morning with a sink of dirty plates, bowls, and mugs. Take the cleaning task off the morning list by making time to clean up the night before.
If you have a dishwasher, it makes this activity much faster than hand-washing. Either way, the kitchen can be spotless within half an hour.
Put Out Tomorrow’s Clothes
Again, you’re doing something that will make the morning go so much smoother. If you’re generally racing around getting the kids for school and yourself ready for the office, then you know how time flies.
Picking out the outfits for your young kids and yourself at night will save stress the next day. If the little ones are still in diapers, then restock the tote bag at night too.
If your kids are a bit older, then ask them to pick out their outfit. Provide them with 2-3 choices of shirts and pants, for example. They’ll likely enjoy choosing what to wear.
Brush Your Teeth and Remove Any Makeup
Before heading to bed, take the time to brush your teeth to remove any bacteria from your mouth. You’re taking the proper steps to prevent gum disease and tooth decay.
If you don’t take a couple of minutes to do so, then bacteria will remain for hours while you’re asleep, and soft plaque can turn into hard calculus that won’t come off with brushing. Take care of your teeth each night to prevent dental issues.
Also, as tempting as it might when you’re tired, do not go to bed with your makeup on. If you leave on the cosmetics, your skin won’t be able to breathe, and that can cause significant skin damage while you sleep. Instead, allow the skin to regenerate by gently removing any makeup in the evening.
To make it easier, try removing makeup at the same time you put on your pyjamas. While you might be tired from the busy day, it’s worth taking a short time to care properly for your skin.
Final Tip: Get a Great Sleep, Mom
Most important of all, get quality sleep. As a mother, you deserve it, and when you feel well-rested, then you are able to give 100 percent to your family. If you have trouble staying asleep, consider taking a sleep supplement.
Now you have the sleep routine you’ve been looking for! You’ll likely find that your mornings are more productive when you have a great nighttime routine.
