Running a business while balancing motherhood duties isn’t easy, but it can be done. In fact many moms are also successful business owners. Below are a few tips for juggling the two roles.

Keep a diary

A diary is so important for planning ahead. You can use it to plan out important business events so that you can prevent family events from clashing. Similarly, you can make a record of important events with your kids such as sports day at school or a birthday party so that you can avoid work matters from getting in the way. There are calendar apps that you can use to do this.

Schedule your family time

It’s important that you have regularly scheduled family time. This could include freeing up evenings and freeing up days at the weekend to spend with your kids. Be strict about not allowing your business to eat away your family time.

Know when to rely on childcare

You may be able to focus on your business while your kids are at school or while they are sleeping. However, it’s important that you’re not sacrificing all of your own free time and that you’re not sacrificing too much sleep either. There could be times when it’s necessary to look into childcare. You may have a partner, family members or friends who you can rely on for free. If not, consider hiring a babysitter.

Outsource business tasks

To help reduce time spent on your business, it could be necessary to outsource tasks. There are certain tasks that could be essential to outsource such as those that are outside your area of expertise – if you’re launching an e-liquid company, but don’t know how to manufacture cartridges, you‘re better off outsourcing a company that specializes in the manufacture of CCELL carts. Other tasks could be useful to outsource simply because they save you precious time. There are virtual phone answering companies that take phone calls for you during certain hours or accounting companies that can handle all of your bookkeeping – know when to invest in these services, so that you have more time to spend with family.

Find ways to run your business on the go

Having to do all your work at a desk could be restrictive. Consider ways in which you can run your business on the go in order to make more flexible use of your time. Being able to reply to emails and handle accounting on your phone could allow you to run your business while spending time with your kids. You may also be able to use bluetooth technology to take calls while in the car on the way back from the school run. Just make sure that your business time and family time aren’t interfering – when going on a day out with your kids, it could be a good idea to switch off from your business.
