When you’re a busy mom, it can often feel like you have absolutely no time for yourself at all. You’re so busy meeting your children’s needs and doing everything else you need to do from working to cleaning the house, that your own needs never seem to get met.

This is not a good scenario to find yourself in because, if you are burned out, you will not only be less capable of taking care of yourself, but your children are likely to suffer too – a happy well rested mom really is the best mom a child can have.

With that being the case, let’s take a look at what you can do to find more time for yourself as a busy mom right now.

Get up a little earlier

If you are groaning at the mere suggestion of getting up even earlier I hear you, but it really can help you claw some time back to read a book or go for a run or simply to just sit and be for a while, and it need not be hard to achieve, If you tend to stay up late binging the latest reality show, then simply turn it off an episode earlier and get to bed so you can get up and get some quality time rarely, or if you tend to stay up checking emails for awoke all night, turn your devices off at a reasonable time and get to bed sooner so you can rise sooner too.

Assign chores to the whole family

If you are desperate to find the time to visit the Alchemy Salon for some pampering or you really need an extra hour each week to practice some stress-busting yoga, then gather the family together and come up with a rota that assigns a fair amount of chores to each daily member. Not only will this let you have some more me time, but it will also teach your kids the importance of responsibility and hard work.

Meal prep

If you are responsible for the cooking, at least some of the time, then meal prepping could definitely help you to find more me time. If you choose a couple of hours in the week when you have enough time to plan your meals and batch cook enough dinners for hr week/month, then it is one less thing you will have to do each day and an extra hour you can spend looking after yourself.

Work from home

If you are able to, working from home means no more commute, which could mean a much more sedate start to your morning – breakfast with a good book for example – and a much more enjoyable end of the working day too. Ask your boss about the possibility of remote working and it could change your life.

Finding more time for yourself is not always easy, but as you can see above, it is possible to carve out more me time by being more organized and lightening your own load. So, what are you waiting for?
