Getting some sort of edge to your fashion can involve some simple touchstones. You may want to find some outfit combinations, or you may just want to have fuller lips but if you are looking to become a bit edgier as this communicates a side to you that you've been lacking for a while, you can go for a vast combination of styles and choices. So where do we begin, and what can we achieve with this?

Some Extra Piercings and Jewellery

This is a very simple thing to make yourself a little bit edgy, but not too much. If you really wanted to go the whole hog, you could go for what is called cartilage jewellery, and this could be nipple piercings, nose piercings, or stone plugs. And you can find a lot of cartilage jewelry at UBJ to start you off. Put simply, some extra piercings are going to make you feel like you are bringing the edge, but in such a way that you aren't completely compromising your day-to-day fashion. The great thing about ear piercings is that you can take them out, and this won't have a massive impact on your day-to-day style, for example, if you have to go and work in the office. Any edgy jewellery can make your outfit look amazing rather than haphazard. Any form of edgy jewellery, whether it is piercings or lariat necklaces, can have that edgy rock and roll vibe.

The Leather Combos

Leather is almost a cliched way to bring some edge, especially when you think of Olivia Newton-John in Grease! But, for those people who are looking to bring a slight bit of edge, they are a wonderful female way to make you look a bit different but are also one of the most diverse materials that you can style in so many different ways. For example, leather leggings work wonders and can be combined in so many different ways. Leather leggings with a concert t-shirt and some canvas sneakers is a quick and easy outfit that looks perfect for a relaxed yet stylish night out. However, if you are looking to be a bit more smoking, leather leggings with some ankle boots and a crop top, complete with some smokey eye or cat eye makeup will look amazing! If you are looking for a leather jacket, leather moto jackets are a perfect way to toughen up any of your looks. It also works great with a lace or floral dress, and will make your wardrobe stretch across different seasons. Never underestimate the power of the leather jacket as a layering piece. Mix up this jacket with jeans and a flannel shirt, and you don't need anything else!

Shredded Denim

Shredded denim is vintage yet edgy for warmer months. If you want to go one step further, put some fishnet tights underneath, but the great thing about shredded denim is that it lends itself to a kicked and laid-back look, or you can rock the “fallen out of bed” look. Shredded denim is that great DIY aesthetic that you could easily do yourself. No doubt you have a number of faded jeans that will look absolutely stunning! Combine this with some combat boots and a deep lip colour, and you will look stunning!

Grunge Style Dress and Skirt

If you want to channel the 90s, look for dark floral patterns, dresses made from velvet or lace, and the all-important skater cuts. Plaid skirts in a high waist look great with a band t-shirt or crop top. But a word of warning, if you are going to wear a band t-shirt, at least listen to a couple of the band's songs! If you are wearing a Nevermind tee, and someone asks you what your favourite Nirvana song is, do not answer "who?," or, even worse, “Smells Like Teen Spirit!”

Dr Martens Boots

If there's one item you have to put in your wardrobe, it's got to be a pair of Dr Martens combat boots! If you cannot afford them, there are many look-alikes out there! But to bring the edge, the heavy-soled boots make them work wonders with feminine pieces and look amazing with a girly dress or a skater skirt.

The Denim Skirt or Jacket

For those who remember the 80s, denim fell out of favour, but it is back in fashion again. You can make denim jackets work with black leggings and a concert t-shirt or some sturdy boots and a denim skirt or denim jeans.

Hopefully, some of these will get you inspired. If you want to be edgy, but you don't want to go completely over the top, it's always about those little bits that can make a massive difference.
